The study has been undertaken in response to the  2012  flood  which  is  considered  to  be  the  largest  known  event  to  impact  the  Leeton Shire. The  Leeton  Shire  Flood  Study  was  undertaken  with  oversight  provided  by  the Floodplain Risk Management Committee. \r\n\r\nThe   catchment   draining   through   the   LSC   boundary   is approximately \r\n850 km\u00b2  in  size  and  drains  in  a  typically westerly direction  from  the \r\nColinroobie  Ranges  located  to  the  east  of  Leeton.
