\n\nAustralian Bureau of Statistics (ABS)\nStatistical Geographical Standard Boundaries Suburb divides an area of interest\nthroughout the state of NSW on which statistics are collected for purposes\nunder the Census and Statistics Act 1905 (Cth).
\n\nThe Australian Statistical Geography\nStandard (ASGS) brings together in one framework all of the regions which the\nAustralian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and many other organisations use to\ncollect, release and analyse geographically classified statistics. The ASGS ensures\nthat these statistics are comparable and geospatially integrated and provides\nusers with a coherent set of standard regions so that they can access,\nvisualise, analyse and understand statistics.
\n\nThe 2016 ASGS will be used for the 2016\nCensus of Population and Housing and progressively introduced into other ABS\ndata collections. The ABS encourages the use of the ASGS by other organisations\nto improve the comparability and usefulness of statistics generally, and in\nanalysis and visualisation of statistical and other data.

\nThe ABS Structures are a hierarchy of regions developed for the release of ABS\nstatistical information. The main components are as follows:

\n\n\u2022 \nStatistical Areas Level 3
\n\n\u2022 \nStatistical Areas Level 4
\n\n\u2022 \nRegional Boundaries (Local Government Area, Suburb)

\nThe Australian Bureau of Statistics Geographical Standard Boundaries,\nStatistical Areas are used to define geographical areas to support statistical and\nsocio-economic analysis at a state and regional scale. They are useful for\nanalytical purposes within statistical boundaries through the aggregation of a\nwide swath of data and information.
The ABS maintains the Australian\nStatistical Geography Standard (ASGS) and the Australian Standard Geographical\nClassification (ASGC) for pre-2011 census information.
\n\nIn addition to the NSW Administrative\nBoundaries Theme Australian Bureau of Statistics also provides this data via a\nweb service direct from ABS.

\nThe regions defined in the ABS Structures will not change until the next Census\nin 2021. The Non-ABS Structures are updated only when the ABS considers that\nthere are major changes to the administrative boundaries they represent.

| \n Accuracy \n | \n \n The dataset\n maintains a positional relationship to, and alignment with, the Lot and\n Property digital datasets. This dataset was captured by digitising the best\n available cadastral mapping at a variety of scales and accuracies, ranging\n from 1:500 to 1:250 000 according to the National Mapping Council of\n Australia, Standards of Map Accuracy (1975). Therefore, the position of the feature\n instance will be within 0.5mm at map scale for 90% of the well-defined\n points. That is, 1:500 = 0.25m, 1:2000 = 1m, 1:4000 = 2m, 1:25000 = 12.5m,\n 1:50000 = 25m and 1:100000 = 50m. A program of positional upgrade (accuracy\n improvement) is currently underway. \n | \n
