WGS 84 = GDA94 service
This dataset has a spatial reference of [WGS 84 = GDA94] and can NOT be easily consumed into GDA2020 environments. A similar service with a \u2018multiCRS\u2019 suffix is available which can support GDA2020, GDA94 and WGS84 = GDA2020 environments. In due course, and allowing time for user feedback and testing, it is intended that these original services will adopt the new multiCRS functionally.
The NSW Survey Marks web service is a dynamic map of\npermanent survey marks that constitute the state control survey. The\npositioning data under the NSW\nFoundation Spatial Data Framework (FSDF) is fed to the web service by the\nSurvey Control Information Management System (SCIMS), the database that\ncontains the single source of truth for all marks within the state control\nsurvey network. The web service provides a wealth of data on each mark,\nincluding:
\n\n\u2022 mark type (Permanent Mark, State Survey Mark, etc.)
\n\n\u2022 mark number
\n\n\u2022 horizontal\ncoordinates and their accuracy (class and order)
\n\n\u2022 heights and their\naccuracy (class and order)
\n\n\u2022 status of the mark (destroyed, restricted access, etc.)
\n\nThe mark type is\nrepresented using various shapes and the accuracy of the mark (both vertical\nand horizontal) is communicated by the colour.
\n\nThis web service allows users to easily integrate survey\ncontrol mark data from SCIMS into Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) compliant\nspatial platforms and applications. Data provided by the NSW Survey Mark web\nservice can be used in a variety of engineering and surveying applications,\nincluding but not limited to:
\n\n\u2022 cadastral survey planning
\n\n\u2022 flood studies and hydrographic modelling
\n\n\u2022 infrastructure development
\n\n\u2022 site calibration at construction sites
\n\n\u2022 elevation modelling
\n\n\u2022 preservation of survey infrastructure
\n\nThe NSW Survey Mark web service gives users an alternative\nmethod to access state control survey data that can be incorporated into their\nGIS package without needing to log into SCIMS Online.
\n\nPlease note that SCIMS Online is the official option for\nobtaining state control survey data for cadastral surveys as it offers legal\ntraceability. SCIMS online is accessible via the Spatial Collaboration Portal.

Accuracy | The dataset maintains a positional relationship to, and alignment with, a range of themes from the NSW FSDF including, transport, imagery, positioning, water and land cover. This dataset was captured by digitising the best available cadastral mapping at a variety of scales and accuracies, ranging from 1:500 to 1:250 000 according to the National Mapping Council of Australia, Standards of Map Accuracy (1975). Therefore, the position of the feature instance will be within 0.5mm at map scale for 90% of the well-defined points. That is, 1:500 = 0.25m, 1:2000 = 1m, 1:4000 = 2m, 1:25000 = 12.5m, 1:50000 = 25m and 1:100000 = 50m. A program of positional upgrade (accuracy improvement) is currently underway. |
