There are two rural villages along the route, Nerriga and Sassafras. In the short term the new route will stay on the existing alignment through the township of Nerriga. Through Sassafras the existing road will be widened. The most significant realignment will take place at Bulee Gap on the western border of the Morton National Park to achieve a proposed design speed of 80km/hour. At the northern end of the proposed upgrade, the road will move away from MR92 and join to the Nowra Motorcross access track, west of HMAS Albatross and hence through a planned industrial park.
