Net Zero Accelerator

NEt Zero Accelerator

Accelerating pathways to achieving net zero carbon emissions in NSW

Reducing carbon emissions is essential to tackling climate change. To do this, we need to understand the carbon footprint of places, assets and activities in NSW. Strategic management of carbon emissions needs smart digital platforms to:

  • Enable emissions data gathering
  • Develop emissions inventories
  • Model emission reduction scenarios
  • Partner with technology providers and investors to deliver actions
  • Monitor and communicate place-based carbon abatement performance of government agencies.

The Net Zero Accelerator (NZA) is a cloud-based platform that supports government agencies to achieve net zero by providing a way of tracking emissions and mapping out pathways to reduce emissions. Agencies can use the NZA to develop their own greenhouse gas emissions inventory, identify opportunities for emissions reduction and model pathways to net zero using data visualisations and dashboards to support planning and reporting.

Achievements

The NZA helps accelerate pathways to achieving net zero carbon emissions in NSW and is being utilised as a key tool to support Treasury’s reporting framework for climate risk and financial disclosures in NSW.

Engagement

This project has involved all NSW Government agencies.
