This map was produced to inform the Mallee Cliffs NP Fire Management Plan published in 2006. M305 mapping was used as a basis for mapping observed vegetation types within the reserve and polygons were field checked. Potential for fire was also assigned based on local NPWS staff knowledge. Level of attribution accuracy is unknown. [M305 was derived from visual on-screen interpretation of Landsat TM satellite imagery (bands 2, 3, 4 and 5) (30 x 30 m pixels) from 1989 to 1991. Attribute mapping includes genus and species information for woody overstorey. Scale of use = 1:100 000. The Vegetation group and density data mapping was developed as part of a larger MDBC project named BasinCare (project code M305). The specification is described in a report entitled Structural Vegetation Data: a specifications manual for the Murray-Darling Basin Project M305 by Kim Ritman.] Dataset fields include: Tag - M305 coding, Descriptio - M305 description of code, AJW_CODE -code for NPWS-allocated vegetation communities, AJW_COMM - community name allocated by NPWS for fire planning, POTENTIAL - potential flammability allocated by NPWS in 2000, Willson A (2000).
