These data were collected as part of the NSW Grazing Study. A range of methods employed to characterise the groundcover at each of the 451 sites.

  1. An estimate of the percentage groundcover in five (5m x 5m) quadrats into the following categories; vascular plants, bare soil, litter (including an estimate of the percentage derived from groundstorey plants), biological soil crusts (e.g. cryptogams).

  2. Enumeration of the lineal metres of coarse woody debris (diameter >10cm) in five (5m x 5m) quadrats

  3. The size and abundance of perennial grasses. In five (5m x 5m) quadrats a count of the total abundance and diameter at base of twenty grass butts.
