Modelled wind erosion rates using the Computational Environmental Management System (CEMSYS) model for NSW Monitoring Evaluation and Reporting (MER) - 2006-07

Data was derived from a numerical model called CEMSYS. CEMSYS is the only wind erosion model routinely run for NSW. Data used for the NSW MER was the 2006-07 year. For a description of the model and its use see Leys, J., Butler, H., Yang, X., and Heidenreich, S. (2010). CEMSYS Modelled Wind Erosion. Technical Report. No. DECCW 2010\321. Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water, Sydney South. 91 pp. or go to http://www.nrm.gov.au/publications/books/soil-condition/cemsys-wind-erosion.html. ; ; The model was first run at 50km resolution for the nation. The model was then run at 10km resolution for the domain bounded by 140 to154 deg E by 26 to 40 deg S. Modelled CEMSYS six-hourly horizontal soil flux (TQ mg/m/s) data was averaged to give monthly data sets. TQ is representative of the wind erosion rate at a site, or in this case, the average for the 10x10km pixel.
