The objective of this publication has been to record highlights of the activities in roadmaking in New South Wales up until the present time (1976). The information and illustrations presented in this publication have been selected from original reports and correspondence retained in the Mitchell Library, Sydney and the Department of Main Roads own archives and supplemented with the recollections of people who were personally involved in particular projects.
