Doctors Nose Mountain Nature Reserve vegetation mapping was undertaken by Dr John T. Hunter in 2012 by contract for the NPWS Northern Tableland Region. Doctors Nose Mountain Nature Reserve is located approximately 6 km west of Tenterfield in the New England Tablelands Bioregion. The reserve comprises 67 ha of granite landscapes which include numerous areas of exposed rock slabs and boulder strewn slopes.

The vegetation of the Doctors Nose Mountain Nature Reserve is described and mapped (scale 1:25 000). Five communities and three sub-associations are defined based on classification (Kulczynski association). These five communities were mapped based on ground truthing, air photo interpretation and landform.
