Data were collected on the tidal and mangrove limits in NSW estuaries between August 1996 and August 2005. Two to three water level recorders were deployed in each tributary to ensure that the limit of tidal movement was identified. Initially the location was plotted on a map and coordinates read off. In 2000, hand-held GPS units were introduced to record coordinates in the field.
