This mapping program was managed by the Department of Land and Water Conservation (Murray Region). Mapping was undertaken by staff from DLWC (Murray Region) and Murray Irrigation Ltd. The program was designed to complement the statewide Vegetation Mapping Program currently being undertaken by the Department. The Information gathered covers the canopy density of tree cover in the region and there is an associated landuse layer. The treecover is mapped according to the various canopy density classes the Department uses with statewide mapping programs. This is derived from the Australian Soil and Land Survey Field Handbook. ; ; Where existing mapping was available it was incorporated.
